  • What does being a First-Generation College Graduate mean to you?

Being a first generation college student means I did it not only for myself but also for my family.

  • What is your proudest moment from your time at UCSD?

Getting accepted into the Marshall mentor program which not many transfer students get into. I'm grateful for this program because I got to build close relationships with Dr. Shachner and Provost Leslie Carver who are experts in the field of psychology.

  • Who are the family members, friends or loved ones who have been most influential throughout your college journey? Are there any words of gratitude you would like to share with them?

I would like to thank my family for being my financial and moral support through my college career because I don't think I would have earned this degree without them. I would like to thank my significant other Jorge for always pushing me to do the best that I could in the rigorous courses I had to endure at UCSD. I would like to thank my roommates Kevin and Jaio for always keeping me positive and focused during the stressful times we had to endure together at UCSD. Thanks for keeping me company at Geisel you guys. And for my friends for always being there for me you know who you are.

  • Who are the staff, faculty or mentors who have been most influential throughout your college journey? Are there any words of gratitude you would like to share with them?

Dr. Schachner and Provost Carver who have really given me great insight in the field of psychology and what degrees are out there after earning my bachelors. I would like to thank them for taking time off their very busy schedules to communicate with me one on one. I also would like to thank all of the professors I have taken at UCSD who have let me grow and learn a ton in their classrooms.

  • What do you plan or hope to do after graduating?

Earning my masters degree in higher education counseling.
