What does being a First-Generation College Graduate mean to you?
Being a first-generation graduate means that I am changing the direction of future generations to come. I also feel like a positive influence to my brothers and any other students who can now look up to someone that looks like them.
What is your proudest moment from your time at UCSD?
Presenting my research at my first poster session.
Who are the family members, friends or loved ones who have been most influential throughout your college journey? Are there any words of gratitude you would like to share with them?
I would like to thank my family for always believing in me and for being there throughout the ups and the downs that I’ve had. I am excited to complete one of my many goals, and I am certain that I can accomplish anything by knowing a positive group such as you all have my back.
Who are the staff, faculty or mentors who have been most influential throughout your college journey? Are there any words of gratitude you would like to share with them?
Michael Castle: Thank you for believing in me and allowing me to work closely with you on my Master’s work. I have already learned a lot about the research process from you and I am excited for what is to come next year.
What do you plan or hope to do after graduating?
My short term goal is to graduate from the BS/MS program at UCSD. My long term goal is to become a physician specialized in sports medicine.
