• What does being a First-Generation College Graduate mean to you?

It means I have the responsibility to make sure that other future first generation college graduates have the same, if not more, opportunities to succeed.

• What is your proudest moment from your time at UCSD?

My proudest moment was getting provost honors for the first time. It took me a while to find my footing at UCSD, but getting recognition for my hard work meant so much to me and continued to inspire me.

• Who are the family members, friends or loved ones who have been most influential throughout your college journey? Are there any words of gratitude you would like to share with them?

Thank you to my family for keeping me inspired and focused throughout these four years. Words will never be enough to describe the impact you all have had in my life. Thank you to my friends, the ones from back home and the ones I had met in college. Both friendships showed me so many different perspectives on life and how to be open minded. My family and friends have helped me grow into the person I am today, and I cannot thank them enough.

• Who are the staff, faculty or mentors who have been most influential throughout your college journey? Are there any words of gratitude you would like to share with them?

Dean Sherry Mallory, thank you for helping me get through a really rough point in my academic career. Your belief in me helped me grow as a student and as a person.

• What do you plan or hope to do after graduating?

My hope is to use everything I learned at UCSD and put it back into my community in Stockton to help it grow.

• ¿Qué significa para ti obtener tu título universitario como graduado de primera generación?

Quiere decir que tengo la responsabilidad de asegurar que otros futuros estudiantes de primera generación tengan lo mismo, si no más oportunidades para tener éxito.

• ¿Cual es el momento de mayor orgullo durante tu tiempo en UCSD?

Mi momento más orgulloso fue recibir honores del preboste por primera vez. Me tarde un tiempo acomodarme en UCSD, pero recibir reconocimiento por mi trabajo duro quiere decir tanto para mí y me continúa inspirando.

• ¿Quiénes son los miembros de tu familia, amigos o seres queridos que han sido más influyentes a lo largo de tu carrera universitaria? ¿Hay algunas palabras de agradecimiento que deseas compartir con ellos?

Gracias a mi familia por mantenerme inspirada y enfocada durante estos cuatro años. Palabras no son suficiente para describir el impacto que todos Uds. tuvieron en mi vida. Gracias a mis amigos, los que están en casa y los que conocí en la universidad. Cada amistad me enseño sobre tantas perspectivas diferentes de la vida y como mantener mi mente abierta. Mi familia y amigos me han ayudado crecer para ser la persona quien soy hoy y no puedo agradecerles lo suficiente.

• ¿Quiénes son los miembros de la comunidad de UCSD (profesores, educadores, mentores) que han sido más influyentes a lo largo de tu carrera universitaria? ¿Hay algunas palabras de agradecimiento que deseas compartir con ellos?

Dean Sherry Mallory, gracias por ayudarme durante un momento difícil de mi carrera académica. Tu fe en mi me ayudo crecer como estudiante y persona.

• ¿Qué planeas o esperas hacer después de graduarte?

Mi esperanza es que yo use todo lo que aprendi en UCSD y que lo devuelva a mi comunidad en Stockton para ayudarlo crecer.
