What does being a First-Generation College Graduate mean to you?
Being a First- Generation College Graduate represents my parent's hard work. Although they were not able to attend university, they dedicated their lives to my sisters and I. They worked hard so we could become successful women. I am proud of being a First-Generation College Graduate because I am breaking away from stereotypes and prejudices.
What is your proudest moment from your time at UCSD?
My proudest moment in UCSD was being able to be part of the Mexican Migration Field Research Program since I was able to experience both San Diego and Tijuana. Attending the migrant shelters and middle schools in Tijuana allowed me to expand my knowledge and provide me with more information about the effects of current immigration policies.
Who are the family members, friends or loved ones who have been most influential throughout your college journey? Are there any words of gratitude you would like to share with them?
The most influential people throughout my college journey have been my family. There are no words to describe how grateful I am for their unconditional support, for always believing in me, and for always motivating me to be a better person. This is for them. Without them, I would not be where I am today. This is our achievement!
