What does being a First-Generation College Graduate mean to you?
Being First-Gen means setting an example for my little brother and cousins so they know that they can do exactly what I did and even better with my lived experiences. Showing them that nothing is impossible as long as you stay true to what you want and who you are.
What is your proudest moment from your time at UCSD?
Becoming a guide and mentor to incoming students that formed a part of my community
Who are the family members, friends or loved ones who have been most influential throughout your college journey? Are there any words of gratitude you would like to share with them?
Le quiero dar gracias a mi familia por apoyarme y aguantarme durante este largo proceso. Se lo dedico a ustedes y más a mi Mamá porque sin ella nada de esto hubiera sido posible! Te amo mamá!
Who are the staff, faculty or mentors who have been most influential throughout your college journey? Are there any words of gratitude you would like to share with them?
I would like to thank Professor Olga Olivas as a fellows Mexican for showing me “que si se puede!” She inspired me to see that no matter who you are that as long as your passionate about your work it’ll make a difference to someone.
What do you plan or hope to do after graduating?
To live my life as happy as I want to! And I hope to pursue my education and get my Doctorate.
