Studio Teacher Interview Project

Telecom- New Media Production Lake Forest High School

Assignment: Have a teacher explain what they are passionate about, what they enjoy about their job or what they do every day that is unique. You will interview them in the studio and shoot b-roll to explain their thoughts and ideas- which could end up on our website.

Due: 5-10 minute studio interview that will be edited down with b-roll, pictures and music to tell a 2-5 minute story.

Goal: To work with a partner, or yourself, to find a good story that you can cultivate and share with a wide audience online. You will learn and follow the production process for studio interviews while building on the experience gained in Final Cut Pro.

Pre- Production Process:

Monday April 6- Introduce project, create groups, select and contact teachers for pre-interview on Tuesday, figure out the three topics you would like to talk about, watch examples from last semester's projects

Tuesday April 7- Conduct pre-interviews with teachers (going over 3 themes and getting a date set), work on 15 questions based on the 3 themes you agreed to talk about

Production Process:

Wednesday March 10- critique last project with Advanced Students

Thursday March 11- Introduce project and watch through previous semester projects

Friday March 12- Pre-Interview possible teachers for 3 topics and script out 15 questions

Production Process:

Monday March 15 - run through in the studio- lights, cameras and audio then practice shooting studio interviews

Tuesday March 16- shooting studio interviews

Wednesday March 17- Shooting studio interviews

Thursday March 18- Shooting studio interviews

Friday March 19- make up day for shooting interviews

Post- Production Process:

March 22-26 cutting down interview to 3-5 minutes

Thursday March 25 Rough Cut audio/story critique with Mr. Douglass

Monday April 5- Create Shot Sheet of B-roll needed to shoot, editing

Tuesday April 6-Friday April 9 Shoot B-roll, editing

Monday April 13- editing

Tuesday April 14- Rough Draft Peer Critique in Google Sites

Wednesday April 15- editing

Thursday April 16- editing

Friday April 17- editing

Monday April 19- editing

Tuesday April 20- FINAL DRAFT due to the server, Google Sites and DVD
