Los Angeles immersion trip

Los Angeles New Media Immersion trip

Who: 6-8 New Media TAs who are committed to the program and want to potentially study and work in Los Angeles professionally.

What/Where: A 5 day trip to visit highly selective colleges (USC, Chapman, CalArts) production houses (Nickelodeon, Universal back lots) and businesses around the LA area to provide post-secondary opportunities for our students. This capstone experience will provide real-world connections to the work done in class. We will connect with alums from LFHS who will host the small group on college campuses as well as in professional environments. We will meet one-on-one with representatives from each of the universities to get a “behind-the-scenes” tour of the programs. This will provide opportunities for our students to differentiate themselves, by showing and telling their stories, with key admission decision makers. Over the five days the students will get a better sense of the unique culture of Los Angeles so they can make a more personalized choice through the college process.

When: Friday, October 6- Tuesday October 10, 2017

How: Steve Douglass and Carolyn Bielski (Graphic Design and Art teacher) will chaperone the trip and here is the tentative itinerary
