Here are your steps for getting the most out of your first editing project:
1. “Log and Capture” your footage through the deck to the Video Server.
2. Watch through the clips in the 75th Anniversary, Basketball or Gap Year folder to see exactly what you can use for the project- drag the INDIVIDUAL clips you might use to your Desktop folder- including your Final Cut Pro project file.
3. Open your Project file from the Desktop, SAVE it with: Your Name Project name and the date= Steve Douglass 75th project 2.14.11.
4. Import your clips from the Desktop- File, Import, Files (or Folder)
5. Start with the AUDIO clips (or other interview clips) by double clicking the file and it will show up in the preview monitor. You can cut down the clip by using the >I for the beginning and I< at the end.
6. Drag the actual video in that frame down TO THE FURTHEST POINT LEFT on the timeline filling V1 track, and A1, A2. Follow with the rest of the interview questions to build your Sequence.
7. Once you have your full story in your sequence- the way you like it- add transitions, RIGHT CLICK and add CROSS DISSOLVE blend to make the video look smoother.
8. Then add Titles. Drop down the A button on the bottom right corner of the Viewer window. Go down to Text- Text. Click on the Control tab and replace SAMPLE TEXT. When finished tweaking the tile, drag it down to the location- above all of your video- remember to read through it twice to know the proper length.
9. Export the final timeline by going to File- Export- QuickTime Movie. Save As: Yourname Final.75th, BB or GY. Make sure you save it in your folder with everything else and your good to go.
