First Semester student Final Project

Assignment: Tell a meaningful story by using effective music and visuals. Be creative in your interpretation of the song. Let your visuals tell the story. Create your song and it can be streamed online, pick a copyrighted song and it can’t be posted.

Due: 2-5 minute video that uses the tone of a song to guide your communication of a storyline that connects with a specific audience.

Goal: To combine the power of music with the visual techniques learned so far to communicate a meaningful message that makes your audience feel a specific emotion. This is not a reenactment of the lyrics, craft your story around the tone and story of the song.

Pre- Production Process:

Friday May 8- Introduce the project, brainstorm ideas and show examples of previous projects

Monday May 11- Introduce how to Topic/Pitch/Propose and watch more examples of stories that use music well CHECK OUT MOBY'S SITE- GRATIS

Tuesday May 12- work on Topic/Pitch/Proposal in class and begin to develop ideas- listening to music, discuss ideas

Wednesday May 13- Go over TPP in class, make adjustments on TPP for the remainder of the class time

Thursday May 14- Introduce music video script on Zhura, work on script during the hour, view more example projects to help develop ideas

Friday May 15- Work on music video script

Monday May 18- Finish music video script on sites for critique on Tuesday

Tuesday May 19- Peer Critique scripts in class on Zhura

Wednesday May 20- Work on Shot Sheet based off completed Music Video Script

Thursday May 21- Begin Production Schedule on Google Calendar

Friday May 22- Finalize all Pre-Production before shooting

Production Process:

Tuesday May 26- shoot, log and import your first video, tweak script

Wednesday May 27- shoot, log and import your first video, tweak script

Thursday May 28- shoot, log and import your first video, tweak script

Friday May 29- ROUGH CUT CRITIQUE

Post- Production Process:

Monday June 1- production based on production schedule

Tuesday June 2- ROUGH DRAFT PEER CRITIQUE

Wednesday June 3- ROUGH DRAFT PEER CRITIQUE

Thursday June 4- editing

Friday June 5 editing

Monday June 8- Final Project Due at the end of class to the web and DVD

Tuesday June 9- viewing in class
