Advanced Class Comedy Project

Assignment: Create a Comedy project where everyone works together to write, shoot and direct an appropriately funny short that is understood by the audience. You can take a variety of approaches including ensemble cast based on real characters and experiences taken to a new creative level or utilizing the new Studio green screen for scripted pieces that include multiple different locations/people.

Due: An under 5 minute piece that can be edited by everyone involved. It can be shot with multiple cameras from a variety of perspectives or just a single camera with chroma key. It can be shot in a variety of locations.

Goal: Learn to work together in the studio or on location- defining roles and delivering on those created responsibilities. Each person is responsible for defining their position; creating their own expectations and rubric, which they will be assessed based on.

Pre- Production Process:

Wednesday November 11- Critique previous projects & introduce project Thursday November 12- Watch through examples and critique comedies

Friday November 13- Watch through Community and discuss ideas

Monday November 16- In-class each person pitches 2 different ideas/situations to the group

Tuesday November 17- pick an ideas and work on TPP, defining roles and written responsibilities for each person as part of TPP

Wednesday November 18- typed Topic/Pitch/Proposal and full Pitch to the 1st semester students and the Flip camera

Thursday November 19-- Organizing Production Schedule

Friday November 20- Scripting

Monday and Tuesday November 23-24- Finalizing of all Pre-Production including location pictures

Production Process:

Monday November 30- December 4= Production Week

Post- Production Process:

Monday December 7- Post-Production Editing

Tuesday December 8- Post- Production Editing

Wednesday December 9- ROUGH CUT with Mr. Douglass

Thursday December 10- Post- Production Editing

Friday December 11- Post- Production Editing

Monday December 14- Post Production editing

Tuesday December 15- Final Draft due by the end of the day

Wednesday December 16- ROUGH DRAFT peer critique

Thursday December 17- Post- Production Editing

BREAK

Monday January 4- Thursday January 7- Final editing

Friday January 8- FINAL PROJECT due to server and the web
