As an upcoming technical trainer in the hospitality industry, my journey has been both practical and transformative. During my training at The Kenya Technical Trainers College(KTTC). I have acquired a strong foundation in both pedagogy and industry-based skills moreover I have received hands-on training service in food production, service, housekeeping and front office operations, which have sharpened my technical competencies.
Additionally, my attachment and work experience in a hospitality establishment exposed me to the real-world dynamics of guest service, teamwork, and operational standards. I participated in menu planning, customer service, housekeeping procedure, and front office tasks, allowing me to understand the expectations and challenges of the hospitality sector.
Reflecting on my journey , I have grown not only in skills but also in confidence, discipline, and professionalism. The integration of pedagogy and technical training has prepared me to become competent, reflective and innovative trainer. I have learned the importance of continuous improvement, communication and adaptability in both teaching and hospitality practice.
As an upcoming technical trainer, I aim to inspire my learners to see service not just as a task, but as craft that requires dedication, empathy and pride. I intend to apply learner-centered teaching methods that integrate demonstrations, peer learning and reflective practice. I believe that training is not just about imparting knowledge but also about inspiring learners to pursue excellence in service and character.
''Learning is a journey, and every experience-whether in the kitchen, classroom, or guest room-is a lesson that shapes the kind of trainer I aspire to be.''
