On December 11, 2014, the 8th grade and high school choirs had their winter concert. The concert was held in the high school auditorium and there was a great turnout.
Before the concert, Mrs. Popio dedicated the concert to the late Gloria Lang. Lang was a huge supporter of the school district and was very supportive of the music department. This was the first concert Lang did not attend, and she was missed.
The eighth grade choir sang a variety of songs to get everyone into the winter spirit. They sang Christmas songs, as well as songs about Kwanzaa and Hanukkah. They also sang a song from the hit movie Frozen. The choir sang very well, and it looked like they had fun doing it.
The high school choir sang a variety of holiday songs, one in a foreign language. Along with the eighth grade, the high school choir also sang from Frozen. Soloist China Tate starred in a rendition of the hit song “Let it Go.” The choir eneded their concert with a medley of traditional Christmas songs. “Joy” featured Jenna Baughman as a soloist, who sang a portion of the song “Go Tell it on the Mountain.”
The choirs’ next concert will be in May and we look forward to seeing everyone there!
