Diala Aburahma has been crowned the 2014 Homecoming Queen.
Aburahma was up against six other senior girls: Cortnie Brown, Lyric Harden, Lyndsay Johnson, Tara Schuster, Kadie Soucy, and Jacquelyn Staley. When asked if she thought she would win, she said, "I didn't really know whether or not I would win, because all of us girls were equally amazing."
When her name was announced at the homecoming game on September 12, Aburahma said she "froze," and that it took her a second to realize that it was her name that had been called.
Aburahma says that the best part of being Queen is "the idea of always being remembered" when students look at yearbooks in the future.
Diala Aburahma was also elected as the Senior Class President. She says her plans as president are to "hopefully just make everyone happy" and to "make the best of every situation."
Aburahma would like to remind the underclassmen that "school is cool."
