When asked about what the team loves about the sport, junior varsity captain Alyssa Helco said, "I love cheering! We have an awesome group of girls this year. Trust me, we may have our days where we want to scream, but with a group of 16 girls someone is bound to have a rough day. At the end of the day we are a family and we push each other to do great. I wouldn't trade it for the world." It's clear to see that this year, the Liberty cheer squad is looking forward to continuing an amazing season.

The Liberty cheer squad is back for the 2018-2019 school year. The varsity team is led by captains Taylor Howard and Jurnee Tery-Gadison. The varsity squad also consists of seniors, Rachel Derenzis, Lawern Davis, Tiana Gammon and Ziyah Rivera, as well as juniors Alize Burgess and Azriel Perkins. The Junior Varsity squad members are captain Alyssa Helco (sophomore), juniors: Aa’nyia Clark, Daniyah Lemott, and freshmen: Tahnee Gilchrist, Jessalyn Hartsfield, Trinity Howard, Breanna McCain and Monica Oliver. The team is coached by Carly Burgdorf.

The cheer squad has started off their season strong cheering at every football game, pep rally and junior varsity home game. The girls even fund themselves with their own fundraisers including their annual car wash and yard sign sale. The football team is 4-2 so far, even winning the Air Force trophy with their battle against Lakeview. The team’s last game was our Homecoming Game where, unfortunately, we fell to Labrae 49-13.
