e school record with a time of 2:05.61. Liberty Girls 200 Freestyle Relay finished 15th and broke the school record with a time of 1:50.34. Congratulations to everyone involved!

Liberty High School has some amazing swimmers, some of which have made it to state! The DII District Meet took place on February 19th and 20th. In this article, you will hear input from some of the swimmers from Liberty, but first let’s talk about some of their achievements. We have five students who competed in the meet, and all of them have played a key part in breaking our school’s records for swim. They are: Theresa Garono, Andrew Riser, Emily Benson, Oliva Benson, and Lily Boylen. We are very proud of our Leopards!
During the DII District Meet, Garono finished 9th in the 50 Freestyle and 8th in the 100 Freestyle; she broke the school record in both events with times of 25.12 and 54.21. Riser finished 19th in the 200 Freestyle and 5th in the 100 Freestyle, and
he broke the school record in the 100 Free with a time of 48.64. E. Benson finished 30th in the 200 Freestyle and 25th in the 100 Freestyle. O. Benson finished 22nd in the 50 Freestyle and 20th in the 100 Breaststroke; she broke the school record in the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:14.78. Freshman Theresa Garono and senior Andrew Riser will represent Liberty High School at state. These two with their outstanding efforts and dedication have swam their way to the top while representing our school well. Now, let’s hear from some of our team and their inputs on how this swim season went and their future plans. Senior, Andrew Riser says “From my personal experience, the season went as good as it could have gone. With covid near its becoming during the prime of our season, we were forced to shut down our pool for distancing regulations. Missing a month of practice is crucial in swimming, as the races come down the
100ths of a second. I put the work in that I could, and made the most out of it, finishing 50th at state with both of my trapezius muscles pulled. My future plan is entering the marines for government intelligence, and later
becoming a cargo pilot.” Congratulations and good luck with your future! Junior, Emily Benson says “I thought it went good because we all made it to Districts. Both of our relays made it to Districts.”
In conclusion, overall this swim season went very well for all those involved even though Covid-19 had other plans. They persevered and made sure that they had the best swim season they could, again Congratulations guys. Go Leopards!
