Grim Reaper Day

On Thursday May 8th the Liberty Leaders Club conducted their 4th annual Grim Reaper Day. This event takes place the day before prom and all juniors and seniors are encouraged to submit their obituaries so participants can be chosen. Alana Landers, president of LLC, states that," Liberty Leaders Club has done Grim Reaper for four years now, and it is to show the students of LHS, especially juniors and seniors, that their decisions have real consequences. Having this event every year reminds juniors and seniors that are going to prom to make good decisions."

Grim Reaper Day symbolizes the amount of teen deaths caused by driving impaired and shows students how many teens die on average each day. It could happen to anyone at any time. Debra Fabian states that, "Writing my own obituary hit home in a way I wasn't expecting, and not being able to talk to my friends for a day reminded me how important it is to be careful when driving."

This project was done for that exact reason, knowing the consequences for your actions is the best way for one to learn about what is best for them. Please think about the safety of yourself and others when you get on the road. Don't drink and drive and never get in the car with someone that is under the influence.
