Snow Can't Defeat the LHS Speech & Debate Team

The Liberty High School Speech and Debate team recently took their annual trip to Sylvania to compete at Northview and Southview High school. It is a two day event. Over 1000 students compete each year, making it one of the biggest tournaments in the area. However, this year, due to adverse weather conditions, approximately 300 students from various school were unable to attend.

Even so, nearly 700 students competed. The students from Liberty represented the school well. Amber Dressel (Oratorical), Jala Beasley Williams(Humor), and Davin Stilson (Drama) all made it into Semifinals, and the Public Forum debate team of Jihad Esmail and Ahmad Amireh made it into Quarter finals. This was one of the most successful years Liberty has had at the Sylvania tournament, and we hope that next year is even better.
