Next ACT test date: December 13, 2014 (Registration deadline: Nov. 7)
1. Go online to http://www.actstudent.org/regist/dates.html and schedule your test in advance. Check your calendar to ensure the test date does not conflict with other events.
2. Choose your testing location wisely. Familiarize yourself with the area in advance and know how long it will take to drive there.
3. Take practice tests online at http://www.actstudent.org/sampletest/.
4. First, practice for accuracy by understanding the content and why the correct answer is the best choice. Next, practice for speed by using a stopwatch to keep time.
5. Gather materials like your admission ticket, permitted calculator, and #2 pencils the night before the test.
6. Go to bed early the night before so you will be alert and attentive for the test.
7. Eat a well-balanced breakfast the morning of the test.
8. Instead of viewing the test as impossible, look at it as a challenge.
9. Take the test seriously, but don’t stress. It is important to do well, but the results do not define you.
10. Finally, tell yourself you can do it. It will give you peace of mind.
