Global Warming

Fact or fiction? Many conservatives and people alike believe global warming is a myth in some way or another. There are many reasons to believe global warming; from facts to our own experiences, such as this winter. The global warming we see today is created by humans. Humans induce this in many ways from pollution to litter. Global warming comes with many signs like the rise in the sea level, which has risen over six inches in the past 100 years; more of which has happened in the last decade. The sea is not only affected in this way, ocean acidification is also taking place. The industrial revolution started the rise of carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere which are absorbed by the ocean. The emissions led to a 30% rise in ocean acidity and two billion tons of carbon dioxide being absorbed in the ocean per year. A more obvious sign of global warming would be the rise in temperature; ten out of twelve years have been the warmest, as well as the record low temperatures dropping. The decrease in snow across the Northern Hemisphere is also apparent. A less apparent sign, to us, would be in the ice sheets. Antarctica’s ice sheets lost 36 cubic miles from 2002 to 2005 and Greenland's ice sheets have lost 36 to 60 cubic miles from 2002 to 2006. Industrialization is necessary in this age, but there is a cleaner way to do it. The damage to this Earth is reaching a point of being irreversible and if we all are aware, changes will be easy to make.
