After a disappointing season opener, the Leopards traveled to Lakeview looking to even up their record. The Bulldogs, meanwhile, had their eyes set on their first 2-0 start to a season since 2009.
After a slow first quarter by both teams the bulldogs, led by Angelo Marino and John Estlack, started to pour it on the Leopards in the second. Marino started the scoring with a run from 12 yards out and Estlack finished the half with a 26 yard touchdown run of his own.
Estlack opened the second half with a 3 yard run to take the score to 21-0. After another 3 yard score by Estlack, Marino found receiver Drew Munno on a 32 yard connection for the games final score.
Marino led the air attack with 7 completions for 271 yards a score and a pick. 3 of those completions went to Sean Rein for 186 yards. Estlack carried the ground assault with 8 carries for 95 yards. Liam Painter led the bulldog defense with 2 interceptions and 5 tackles.
Liberty’s JaShaun Whitman found sophomore Dra Rushton twice for a total of 14 yards. Whitman also led the running game with 8 carries for 22 yards. Kaylon Davis picked off Marino and recorded 6 tackles to lead the Leopard defense.
With Liberty trying to avoid their first 0-3 start since 2011, the student section needs to show up and be the team's 12th man.
