The Leopards came dressed in all black on friday to support the football team in their Homecoming game against LaBrae.
The night’s festivities started with the Homecoming parade, which introduced the seven girls on the homecoming court: Melanie Paez, Jurnee-Terry Gadison, Rachel Derenzis, Selena Shihadeh, Taylor Howard, Imani Seals, and Maya Stinson, who were all in the running for homecoming queen. The parade itself, was a fun event for all liberty families, who were all treated to candy by the student body and various LHS alumni, on multiple creative and colorful floats. It was later announced at halftime that Maya Stinson was the 2018 LHS Homecoming queen, and she was presented the crown by last year’s homecoming queen, Amber Bowie.
The game officially started at 7:30 and saw LaBrae take an early first half lead, with 35 unanswered points in the first half. However, the Leopards were still determined to fight for the win in the 2nd half, with big tackles from senior Zach Coman and a solid interception by Junior Simi Moananu Jr., as just a few examples. Although the Leopards came up short in the end (49-13), they were still able to respond by putting 13 points in the 4th quarter showing a strong determination for next week’s game.
