This school year's annual Veterans Day assembly was once again a success. The afternoon was filled with music, poems and speeches as the whole school, as well as, many special guests and honored visitors, honored the veterans who have fought for our country.
This year our special guests included State Representative Michael J. O’Brien, Senator Joe Schiavoni, and Mr. Robert Faulkner Sr., who was also one of our guest speakers. Along with the special guests, many local veterans and their families, and some families of veterans who are no longer with us visited the school to help our students honor and recognize those who have helped make our country what it is today.
At the beginning of our program, Cub Scout Pack 40 helped us out with our Presentation of Colors, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance led by the Guy Middle School Student Council. After the Pledge, the LHS Choir performed the Star Spangled Banner, which was followed by a moment of silence to honor our veterans. Once the moment of silence was over, the program continued with speeches made by our special guests, poems performed by the elementary school and the middle school students, and one more performance by the LHS Choir.
The Veteran’s Day Program was concluded with a special performance by the LHS Concert Band, during which any veterans present were asked to stand as Mr. Diroll announced their branch of the military.
