Not Ready for Defeat

On January 13, the Leopards fell in a hard fought match against the Girard Indians. The Leopards, led by senior Ben Phillips who had 21 points on the night, started out strong leading in the first quarter 14-12. Sophomore Lynn Bowden, who finished with 11 points, kept up the pace making three one handed dunks before half time bringing the score to 32-26.

Girard came out strong in the second half going on numerous scoring runs, but the Leopards were not ready for defeat. With a little over three minutes remaining in the game, Phillips made two foul shots bringing the score to 57-54.

But the Indians had a few tricks up their sleeves still, and came back in the remaining seconds of the game to edge out the Leopards 59-58, making the game a harrowing defeat for the 3-7 home team.
