In the first half of the game, Girard scored the first points and were beating Liberty until the second quarter. The score was 14-6 before the first quarter ended. Once the second quarter started Liberty scored two points in the end zone. Liberty ended up with a promising score of 21-14. Halftime started with a performance by the Liberty flagline and then the band, who performed a twenty-one pilots Medley. Then came the Girard band, playing songs with a “Nintendo” theme. They then introduced their 2017-2018 seniors before the game resumed.
During the third quarter, Girard gained 6 more points, but Liberty stayed in the lead. By the end of the quarter, the score was 35-20. Finally, the fourth quarter began. Suspense from both sides grew as Liberty and Girard battled for the win. By the end of the game, however, we won against the “unbeatable” Girard team with a score of 41-28! This was an exciting and somewhat unexpected win for the Leopards.
This was the exciting game that takes us to the playoffs of 2017. Come support our team on Friday, November 3rd when we compete against Kirtland. Go Leopards!

On Friday the 27th of October two big school rivals went head to head in their biggest game. It was the last game of the season for the teams, only one will make it to the playoffs. Before the game started, both schools observed a moment of silence in honor of Girard Police Officer Justin Leo, who was killed in the line of duty last week. One of his old classmates had sung a song in honor of Officer Leo and then sang the Star Spangled Banner. After this, the first quarter began.
