On May 2nd, 2014 Liberty High School hosted the 2nd annual blood drive for students. About 50 people generously donated blood. Two people donated double.
This means that they gave one pint of blood, the normal amount, then they got their blood separated in a machine and got their plasma back along with 500ml of fluids. After this they then give another pint and the process starts over.
This generosity can save up to 6 people which is very helpful for hospitals that need all the blood they can get. Overall, the blood drive went great! Everyone giving blood was looked after by NHS volunteers and nurses. No one passed out or got sick! Thanks to everyone who donated and hopefully more high school students will volunteer next year and save even more lives!
