Why Online?

Since the beginning of the school year, The Leopard's Roar has covered nearly 20 school events, more events than we have ever been able to cover before in that amount of time. When the newspaper was being printed as a paper, hard copy, The Leopard's Roar staff typically covered 4-5 events per month. This means that typically, by this time any other year, The Leopard's Roar would've covered between 8-10 events. This year, we've doubled that number, all because we've gone online. Multiple students, as well as some LHS faculty, have asked me why The Leopard's Roar moved onto the web. There are a few reasons.

First of all, it saves money. Ink and paper are not cheap materials. By moving to a digital newspaper, The Leopard's Roar has saved money that we have been able to use to provide our staff with press passes, so we can better cover school events and keep LHS informed.

Also, by moving online, we're helping the environment. By not printing an actual newspaper, we're saving 600+ sheets of paper per month from being thrown into school trash cans and dumped into landfills.

Perhaps the most important reason for why The Leopard's Roar went viral is that we can now keep the school, and the community, more updated than ever before. We are now able to post stories as our writers cover school events, meaning that instead of reading a recap of a football game a month after it happened, you can read about it the Monday after the game. We've even created a Twitter account so you can get real-time updates and reminders about school club meetings and other events.

The Leopard's Roar has a bigger staff this year than it has in my entire four years on the newspaper staff. The entire staff has worked hard to make sure you have a reliable news source to tell you about all the happenings at Liberty High School and the township community as they happen. We hope you enjoy it.
