What is Physics?
Physics is the required class for juniors (other levels are available, see other slides)
Physics studies the most measurable parts of reality - take it to learn what this means!
What will you learn?
The “who”, “what”, “when”, “where”, “why”, and “how” of motion.
That “gravity” is the spookiest thing you can dress up as for Halloween.
How important units really are.
What friction does to energetic systems (it’s not what you think!) .
How listening to resonance allows you to calculate the speed of sound.
How much corn syrup refracts (bends) light.
That the image you see in a mirror is an extrapolation of your brain!
Why you can shock somebody, especially in the winter.
What batteries are, and what they do.
And lots of other Physics stuff...
What will we do?
Build a device to protect an egg from a 2nd story drop to explore
forces and their effects.
Find how much horsepower you can generate by running up the stairs.
Learn how to locate images using mirrors and lenses.
Build and analyze electric circuits.
