Biology is designed to provide information regarding the fundamental concepts of life and life processes. These courses include (but are not restricted to) such topics as cell structure and function, general plant and animal physiology, genetics, and taxonomy. Biology is a laboratory-oriented course that is designed to provide experience with and understanding of living organisms. This understanding is attained through actual laboratory work. Films and other instructional media are also used to introduce and explore various biological concepts, such as cells, diversity, the distribution of living organisms, ecology, the study of microscopic organisms, animal and plant structure and function, reproduction, genetics, behavior, and evolution. The development of an inquiring approach to problems related to living things is a priority.
