The Mindstorm is a line of programmable lego sets released by Lego. These came in lots of models including the RCX, a set with only black and yellow pieces that can be put into all kinds of different forms. The Mindstorm RCX comes with three sensors and three motors that plug into the ports on the Brick. The brick is where the program is and where you plug in the actuators and sensors. You also must program the robot on a computer then you send the program to the brick. The Brick was created by MIT Media Lab. Once you have added the program to the brick and turn it on the robot will follow the program unless it’s unable too. The Mindstorm can also interact with other Mindstorms. We will be using the Mindstorm EV3 in class, the most modern version of the Mindstorm. The Mindstorm RCX Is a robot because has a lego body, the brick is a brain, it comes with sensors and motors as actuators, you upload a program to the Brick and it will exhibit behaviors based on that program and it’s surroundings.
