3.2 Section Views

Section views are drawing that show what the object would look like if it were cut apart.  Section views are made for objects that have important internal shapes that would be hidden in the standard top, front, and side view.  They can also be used to clarify the cross-sectional shape of irregular objects.  A section view is added to a multiview drawing by placing a section line on one of the existing views to show where the imaginary cut is being made and which directions we will be looking at the object from in the section view.  The section view is then projected perpendicularly from the section line and place as the next view, sometimes replacing an existing view.
