Pneumatics

The pneumatic tool I chose to research is a sander. These compared to electric sanders last longer, can be more powerful and also are lighter. A disadvantage of these is they don't have much, if any, dust collection. They work a lot better and are way more practical in an industrial situation and not as practical in a small shop. It needs a big air compressor to run and requires an air filter and a line dryer. Poly hoses work best on it and provide clean air flow to the sander.

3/8 in. Pneumatic Reversible Drill

For the DeWalt 3/8 inch pneumatic reversible drill the pneumatic system begins at the compressor. The compressor puts pressurized air into the air tank which is oftentimes attached to the compressor. There is a hose with a quick connection on both sides that connects the air compressor tank to the pneumatic drill. When the trigger is pulled on the drill air from the air tank travels through the hose into the air chamber within the drill turning the rotor and the bit.  This allows the operator to drill through many different types of materials. DeWalt pneumatic reversible drill uses a Pneumatic oil to lubricate the rotor and fins so that the drill runs smoothly without creating too much heat. This drill does not require an air filter, Oiler or dryer to operate. The advantages of using a  pneumatic tool are they are more simple therefore can be worked on and maintained with more ease. They also are very powerful and oftentimes smaller than Electric Tools. The disadvantage of pneumatic tools is that you need to buy an air compressor which is a large initial investment but can pay off if you use the tool often.

Compressed Air Sprayer

Compressed air paint sprayers are one of three different types of paint sprayers that one can find for sale online. These paint sprayers are designed to be super easy to use so that people can create a smooth and even finish on their paint job. People often use these paint sprayers to paint their walls and or furniture, most often smaller pieces of furniture, like cabinets. Air paint sprayers can be used for a lesser array of items but are still quite popular because they’re cheaper to buy or rent and are quite easy to use. The downsides to using this air paint sprayer is that it requires an air compressor to use and they use a ton of paint. The air paint sprayer also needs a hose to connect the air compressor to the paint sprayer attachment. When using a compressed air compressor they recommend that one thins the paint before using it in a paint sprayer or else it will harm the paint sprayer. They also recommend that they test the consistency of your paint sprayer on a piece of cardboard before actually using it on your desired object to paint.

Nail Gun

The Metabo HPT NR90AEM is a Framing Pneumatic Nailer that utilizes  plastic collated strip nails from 2" to 3-1/2" for framing, sheathing, truss building, sub-flooring, decking, fencing and pallet assembly. The Nailer is one of the most efficient in its class not only due to the size, weight, the switching device, but the pneumatic system it utilizes allowing for the user to successfully get the job done. The design of the head guard allows for easy access to the interior of the Nailer, allowing for easier maintenance by the user. The rubber grip and magazine size allow for comfortable and safe use, the large magazine capacity so the user does not have to refill in the middle of the job. The open nose design allows for operators to easily clear jams which comes in useful with the Selective actuation switch allowing for selective fire of the nail gun, for more efficient usage. With the pneumatic air system, the nailer reaches pressure values of 70-120psi, allowing for the user to reach high levels of power with the nailer with the pneumatic system they are using. Overall, the Metabo HPT NR90AE Framing Pneumatic Nailer is an efficient and safe nailer, due to the design the user experiences less fatigue and the high power and designs of the nailing system allows for the user to successfully complete the job.

Finish Nailer

Most nailers run with 10-18 gauge nails. The gauge represents how thick of a nail the nailer can use. The higher the number the thinner the nail is. Nailing together small parts requires a higher gauge and nailing together larger parts is going to require a lower gauge.

Example: Recently me and my family installed hardwood flooring with a floor nailer which used 15 gauge nails which were the perfect thickness for the type of project we were doing.

This specific tool is pneumatic meaning its main mechanic is air compression which provides a safe, efficient and effortless nailing function.

This nailer also offers the capability of being able to adjust how long your nails are adding more convenience factor into this piece of equipment.

The fact of the nailer being angled (which most are) allows you to nail other angles besides vertical and horizontal parts. The angling also allows for more convenience because your nail cartridge won't get in the way of what you’re doing.

The integrated air duster also provides a wide range of convenience adding the capability of being able to clean the surface you’re about to nail down also adding a precision factor because if you can't see clearly where you need to put a nail, it could mess up the entirety of what you’re building.

This specific nailer runs on 80-90 PSI meaning 80-90 pounds per square inch. This is plenty of power to drive a nail into some wood. Setting your air compressor to a higher PSI could result in the nailer breaking because of excessive pressure or the nail going straight through the wood because of too much power. This adds more of a danger factor.

Salon Chair

Salon chairs or barber chairs can be found for sale on many salon equipment websites online and very few select cosmetic stores. These chairs are designed to lift people up so that barbers and hairdressers can more easily cut people’s hair while their client is in a comfortable sitting position. Without this special kind of chair, barbers and haircutters would have to be squatting or kneeling on the ground awkwardly to cut hair. To lift people up, these chairs have a hydraulic pump close to the base that has an attached lever for the barber/hairdresser to step on. The large circular base allows these chairs to be pretty sturdy in order to avoid falling over despite not having four legs like a normal chair but on a plush carpet or surface that isn't flat, this base might not be very effective in its job. Many barber/salon chairs have a rubber ring around the circular base to make certain it does not move either which would work best on a smooth tile floor. Depending on the model and manufacturer of the salon chair, the average salon chair can hold around 300 pounds, but that doesn’t mean a chair that can only hold 300 pounds would break if someone weighing 310 pounds sat on it but the risk of causing the hydraulic pump to dysfunction is very possible. In order to accommodate people who might be considered obese, hair cutting companies try to purchase chairs with as high a weight limit as possible, but these models are often more expensive and at times unaffordable. For example, purchasing a “heavy duty barber chair” from Keller is $700 - $3,500 in comparison to a $200 chair from Buy-Rite.
