Open a part file.
2. Open the Design pull down menu
Click on Design (upper left)
Click on Drawing (below)
Click on From Design (to the right)
3A. The Create Drawing window will open.
If measuring in inches, ASME will be selected for you
ASME - American Standard - Inches
Select Sheet Size: A
Select Orientation: Landscape
Click on OK
3b. The Create Drawing window will open.
If using millimeters, ISO will be selected for you.
ISO - International Standard - Metric
Select Sheet Size: A4
Select Orientation: Landscape
Click on OK
4. Autodesk creates the page, borderline, and title block
5. Autodesk pre-selects the Base View command
In the Drawing View window you see the view name and scale
Move your curser over the page to where you want the view
Left click when it is in the correct location.
This will place the first view of the part.
You can click on the view and then drag if to a new location.
You can double click on a view to open the Drawing View window
6. Select Project View (top right)
to add the other views of the part.
Select the base view.
Drag the curse to where you want
the new view.
Click to select the view and location.
You can place several views.
When finished, click OK
or the check mark
next to the last view placed.
7. Continue to use Project View to add all views.
8. Removing hidden lines from the Isometric View
Double click on the Isometric view.
The Drawing View window will open.
Next to "Style" there are 5 options.
1st blocks will make it the same as the view it was projected from.
2nd block will remove hidden lines
Select the second box next to Style.
3rd block will add the hidden lines.
4th block will shade the view.
5th block will be shaded with hidden lines.
9. In the Drawing View window you can make changes to the way each view is displayed.
A. Change the scale of the view.
Select the three dots next to Scale.
Select the new scale you want.
B. Change Edge Visability
C. Auto Center Marks and Center Lines.
This is what the drawing will look like after you have placed the views.
Depending on the assignments you may still need to add more to the drawing like center marks, center lines, dimensions, notes, or a parts list.
10. Filling in the Title Block.
Autodesk auto fills some information in the title block for you.
PROJECT - This is the name of the folder the part is saved in.
TITLE - This is the file name of the part shown in the drawing.
Drawn - This is your name as it appears in your Autodesk account.
Date - This is the date the drawing was first created.
Scale - This is the scale of the base view of the drawing.
Sheet - Each drawing file can have several pages.
When you make the first page it is "1/1", page one of one pages.
Double click on the title block to edit it. Several text block are available for you to edit.
For this class you do not need "Approved", Checked", "CODE, "DWG NO", or "REV".
You can change the auto fill information.
PROJECT - This and be unit or project. ex. "Unit 2 Dimensioning", "Puzzle Cube"
Title_1 - This should be a descriptive title of what is in the drawing.
Title_2 - This should be the complete name of the class (department).
Title_3 - This should be the complete name of the school (business).
