SCARA(Selective Compliant Assembly Robot Arm)

• SCARA is a manufacturing robot
• It is ideal for its fast production of material-handling applications
• It is based off of a four axis design
• It was developed by Hiroshi Makino, a professor at the University of Yamanashi
• Operates much like a human arm
• Faster and cleaner than a Cartesian robot

SCARA was the first in the new generation of manufacturing robots of the modern age.
