Technology Systems

Technology is the application of knowledge, tools, and skill to solve problem and extend human capabilities.

Systems are a group of resources working together for a purpose.

Technology Systems are a group of resources (knowledge, tools, skills, people, time, energy, materials) working together to solve problems and extend human capabilities.

Technology Systems Model is a graphic organizer that can be used to describe technology systems.

The parts of the systems model are input, resources, process, output, and feedback.

There are systems for solving technical problems that can be described using The Technology Systems Model can describe systems for creating solutions to problems (creating a new car) and systems that have already been created and are just being used to solve problems (driving a car). Some technology systems are automated (like the air conditioning system in a house), run with very little input from humans, and other systems where humans are actively creating and using tools to do something. Technology systems can be small and simple (like opening a can of soup) or large and complex (like hydro-electric power plants), but all of them can be described using the Technology Systems Model.
