Recon Scout

The Recon Scout is a robot. The Recon Scout is a rugged micro-robot that can traverse varied terrain to provide operators with immediate video and audio reconnaissance in high-risk situations. Its wheels can climb over 4-inch (10.2-centimeter) obstacles, enabling operators to drive it through landscapes of rocks, grass, sand and debris. The Recon Scout XL weighs only 1.4 pounds (0.64kg), can be thrown 30 feet (9.1m) and dropped 15 feet (4.6m). Its durable construction, infrared optics, water resistance, and stealth provide your operators with an invaluable tool to increase situational awareness and save lives.Equipped with large motors, powerful drive trains and aggressive wheels, the throwable Recon Scout can be directed to quietly move through a building, bunker or cave and transmit real-time video back to the warfighter’s handheld operator control units. “The impetus for the Recon Scout design was provided by the U.S. military, which frequently operates in rugged urban terrain and remote, dusty environments,” says Bignall. “Our engineers responded by giving them the speed, power and maneuverability they wanted in a very small, easy-to-deploy system. We believe that police tactical units will also appreciate the speed and versatility of the new XT because they, too, must operate in a wide range of environments, day or night.” This bot is constructed with a titanium shell and toughened electronics, the scout can survive reated horizontal throws of 120 feet and vertical drops of 30 feet. The Recon Scout may also be specified in any of three transmitting frequencies, allowing police and military personnel to operate up to three robots in the same environment at the same time.
