DRHS Lego Kit Rules

The following are the rules that students need to follow in order to be allow to use the LEGO EV3 Robotics Kits.

1. Only take out your assigned robot kit from the cabinet with teacher's permission.

2. Keep all Lego pieces organized in the tub and tray when not in use.

3. Take out only the parts you need for the assignment.

4. Don't Play - Do not build anything other than what is needed for the current assignment.

5. Do not touch other group's robot kits, robots, parts, etc.

6. Don't run your robot on the floor, except inside the walled testing area.

7. Immediately pick up any Lego parts that fall.

8. Clean up your Lego kit and put it away in the cabinet on its shelf at the end of each period.

Robots can be placed on top of the Lego Kit or on a tower charging station.

Abuse of Lego Kits - rough, careless, disruptive, or destructive use of any part of the Lego kit.

The teacher will try to make as many friendly reminders as necessary for student to follow the above rules.

Students who abuse the Lego Kits will loose work habits points in the gradebook that can not be made up.

Students may also be responsible for replacing damaged Lego parts (EV3 kit cost about $375).

Councilors and administrators will be made award of the behavior problem.

1st Instance of Abuse of Lego Kits

Student will be removed from the robotics area and assigned a seat in the classroom area.

Student is not allow to use the Lego Kit for the rest of the period and the next class period.

Student may work on their laptop or read one of the robotics books from the bookshelf.

Teacher will contact parents with details of what happened.

Your partner will have to continue working without you for this time.

2nd Instance of Abuse of Lego Kits

Student will be removed from the robotics area and assigned a seat in the classroom area.

Student is not allow to use the Lego Kit for the rest of the period and the next 2 class periods.

Student may work on their laptop or read one of the robotics books from the bookshelf.

Teacher will contact parents with details of what happened and consequences of further abuse.

Your partner will have to continue working without you for this time.

3rd Instance of Abuse of Lego Kits

Student will be removed from the robotics area and assigned a seat in the classroom area.

Student is not allow to use the Lego Kit for the rest of the period and the rest of the semester.

Student will be given alternative work to complete on their laptop.

Teacher will contact parents with details of what happened and discuss how to move forward.

Your partner will continue working without you and may be put into a new group.
