J class

The Westrail J class were small shunting locomotives similar to the Victorian Y class. With the formation of Great Northern and National Rail the class moved from WA and have seen service in many places in Australia. J101 was used for spare parts before being cut up by Great Northern Rail without ever leaving WA. J105 spent a period with National Rail and received a repaint into the NR marigold livery. J104 spent some time with RTS, being repainted into their blue livery. J102 and 103 ran with Great Northern in Victoria before being sold to CFCLA and placed on long term lease to SSR. They have since been sold to SCT. J104 and J105 were sold to FreightLink in 2004 and were subsequently renumbered to the FJ class for service as FreightLink shunters on the Adelaide to Darwin trains.
