Classing: 22 - 2200 rated horse power

The 22 class were reclassed from NSW 422 class locomotives and are now operated nationally by ARG and Genesee and Wyoming Australia. ARG has started to reclass some 22's to the DC class for Westersn Australian Internal working. The reclassings are only the addition of the prefix DC and the 22 class number is retained. 4 of the class were sold to Apex Industrial and exported to South Africa where they were subsequently held up on the docks and eventually scrapped, those being 2201, 2203, 2215 (As DC 2215) and 2211 (As derelict 42211, never converted). 2209/42209 was never converted, instead stripped for parts and eventually sold to and scrapped by J&P Group in Picton, WA in one of Aurizons locomotive purges.
