153hp Walker Railmotors

The walker railmotors were brought into service to give faster, better service to country places at less of a cost but were only built to last 10 years in service. They were meant to be reaplaced with better railmotors by the time they were expired but lasted much longer than originally designed (30 years). All series of walker railmotors and in the case of the 153's was 35 RM. The railmotors were also accompanied by the Walker trailers which were matching vehicles to the railmotors themselves. Three 153hp Walkers railmotors survive, 22RM being the only operation unit. 24RM was owned by the now defunct Tallangata Steam Preservation Society and is stored at Huon in Northern Victoria and 32RM is currently under restoration by the Daylesford Spa Country Railway.
