Classing: CSR - Builder name: China South Rail

The CSR class is the first chinese built locomoitve class to be exported/imported to Australia. There were originally 6 ordered and signed the contract on the 1/9/2010 but the order was increased to 10 in March 2011. SCT has named the class 'Pandaroo' although the unofficial name 'Sugar cubes' has been given to them by the rail enthusiest community. On delivery CSR's 001 - 006, the original order, were brought over on the ship 'MINERVAGRACHT' and unloaded in port Adelaide in berth 29 using the onboard cranes. During the build the MTU engineers upgraded the MTU engine from 4000hp to 4250hp to meet SCT power requrements. In late March 2012 CSR006 was forwarded to Victoria for trials before running an SCT servce between Horsham and Melbourne with CSR003 and CSR005 following shortly after. With the extension order Bradken also ordered 2 locomotives, classed as the BK class they were dilivered with the second batch os CSR's. On January the 10th 2017, SCT took ownership of Bradkens two BK class locomotives and renumbered them to be in line with the CSR class. BK 001 was repainted and renumbered to CSR 011 in mid August 2017 and BK 002 was done in early November. In mid 2021 delivery of a second order of new locomotives began with CSR's 013 and 014 arriving in late July.
