• 1. .Introduction

     1. Purpose

The Rights and Contributors System is used to manage GNM’s rights in its published content, and to manage payments to contributors who supply content, whilst the Syndication Licensing Module manages licences and contracts for the reuse of content and the raising of invoice instructions in relation to those licences and contracts.

In many respects both RCS & SLM are configurable to reduce dependency on developer(s). This document identifies the configurable areas of SLM.

• 1. Scope

Most of SLM’s configuration is summarised in this document, with more detail in the related technical specifications. However, some of the configuration detail is recorded in subject area documents: for example the WorldPay configuration parameters are detailed in the WorldPay interface technical specification as this is the most appropriate context for this.

This document is intended as a high-level document outlining the areas that are confurable in SLM. It is not a detailed functional specification from which the system could have been developed.

Separate Technical specifications document the implementation of these functions.

• 1. .General configuration

Most of the general configuration features relate to the original scope of SLM which covered licencing of content.

• 1. Screen names

As per the equivalent screen in RCS, this screen allows the user to maintain the main window title and the URL of the help text for each SLM screen.

• 1. Users

As per the equivalent screen in RCS, this screen allows the user to maintain the SLM user login profiles.

• 1. Syndication parameters

As per the equivalent parameter screens in RCS this screen allows the user to maintain the values assigned to the configurable parameters.

• 1. Cancelation reasons

This screen allows the user to maintain the list of reasons that may be used to cancel a licence request.

• 1. .Contracts parameters

These configuration features were added to SLM when the redistribution contract management software was subsequently developed.

• 1. Deliverable products

A list of News service products that can be delivered to clients. This list needs to match the products Fingerpost can process.

• 1. Invoice products

A list of the product names that can appear on the invoices sent to clients.

• 1. Delivery options

A list of Output envelopes, Output formats, and Delivery types that define how content is delivered to clients. Again this must match what Fingerpost can process.

• 1. Delivery methods

A list of the available delivery methods and the data items associated with each, as well as a list of all possible data items. This can only be changed in conjunction with Fingerpost.

• 1. Aggregate sales term sheets

The (template) term sheet definition from which all the redistribution contract term sheets are generated.

• 1. Spot sales term sheets

The (template) term sheet definitions from which all the spot sales term sheets and quotations are generated. NB This include the Theatrical & Motion Picture (Television and Feature Film) variants of each.

• 1. Client contact types

A list of valid client contact types that may be used when linking contacts to a redistribution contract.

• 1. Client media types

A list of valid client media types that can be used on redistribution contracts.

• 1. Email alert types

A list of email alert types, split into those types that are for corrections and clarifications and those that are for legal notices.
