The Rights defaults screen is used to maintain Rights profiles that apply to commissions and contracts. Profiles are defined for all combinations of Supplier type, Format ot content, Type of agreement, and whether its a Licence or Assignment of rights. Finally each profile may change over time.
The Periods section defines the time period for which this Rights profile is applicable until. That is to say, any commission or contract created with an agreed date in the rights period get linked to that period provided the arrangement matches the criteria highlighted on the left hand side of the screen. The screen will only show Current profiles by default (to view a history of profiles change the radio button at the top from Current to All). Once a profile is mark Live? it is available to the users; and once it has been used it can no longer be modified.
A Rights profile is defined for almost every combination of the data under Criteria (on the left hand side) and is displayed on the Right hand side of the screen. The Rights which are applicable to the selected profile/period are listed under Rights.
Next to each Right a checkbox indicates whether it is acquired (by default) or not. When a right is acquired much more detail can be entered alongside (such as the default value to be applied and the units that are applicable). The properties of each right are defined in Rights and their Properties.
When setting up a new profile The Group copy button is used to copy the properties of the highlighted right to all the other rights in this profile within the same group.
Click on the Summary tab to see the the rights in a more descriptive view. Instead of showing abbreviated values this view shows the description or meaning of that value. This descriptive data is all set up in the Rights and their properties screen under the Properties tab.
