To Enter a search:
Enter your search criteria. Several types of individual searches can be made:
Search by name
Enter a full or part name and click on Find. Alternatively, if you are not sure of the spelling, you can enter names using an asterix (*) as a wildcard, e.g. So*f or S*eif will find Ahdaf Soueif. NB If you do not find an immediate match, try just entering the contributor's surname, especially if the forename, like Steven or Patrick, can be shortened.
Search by geography
Enter a location, such as a town or country name, and click on Find. This search looks through every line of the address including Street address and is therefore slower than the other search types. As above, wildcards can be used if you are not certain of the spelling.
Search by expertise
Enter a speciality, such as 'American law' or 'Dickens' and click on Find. Contributors will only be found if the Expertise field has been filled out. Brevity is the key: 'horse' will bring you 'horse', 'horses', 'seahorses', 'horseriding' and 'horse riding', but 'horseriding' will not find 'horse riding'. As above, wildcards can be used.
Search by reference
If you know the reference of the Commission, Contract or expense payment you can enter the CRN, ARN or PRN to go directly to that record.
