.Introduction
Purpose
The document GNM_SLM_Syndication_Configuration_FS.docx is the functional specification that describes what features SLM has in relation to the configuration of the various features of SLM.
This document is one of a set of technical specifications that provide details of how those functions are implemented in RCS.
Scope
This document focusses on the reference data specifically related to redistribution contracts. Separate documents deal with the other aspects of the system’s configuration.
This document is intended as a high-level technical document outlining how the relevant business functions are implemented in terms of software modules.
Importantly, this document does not aim to provide the level of detail that would be required in a programming specification in areas such as program structure, detailed business rules, data integrity, validation, locking considerations, data security, and calls to/from other software modules, performance considerations, and so forth.
For details of program logic and coding, the reader should refer to the program files themselves.

.Products (for delivery)
GNM’s News service products are delivered to clients by Fingerpost. The definition of what needs to be delivered to each client is defined in a file that gets generated from SLM every half an hour and made available to Fingerpost.
Included in that file is the product name or names associated with each redistribution contract.
The Deliverable products screen lists all the valid deliverable product names. This screen is accessed from this menu option:
Syndication → Redistribution contracts → Deliverable products
This opens the Oracle Form named rcs_spro_010_pc.fmb as shown below, but in a mode that only shows the deliverable products (as opposed to invoice products).
This screen is only accessible to RCS administrators.
.Products (for billing)
The list of product names that can appear on invoices issued to contract clients differs from the product names that Fingerpost works with and so a separate list is maintained.
The News service products (for billing) screen lists all the valid invoice product names. This screen is accessed from this menu option:
Syndication → Redistribution contracts → Invoice products
This opens the Oracle Form named rcs_spro_010_pc.fmb as shown below, but in a mode that only shows the invoice products (as opposed to deliverable products).
This screen is only accessible to RCS administrators.
.Delivery options
Against each News service redistribution contract there are delivery details. This data is used by Fingerpost to ensure data is sent in the correct format to the correct recipients. One aspect of this is the Delivery options, which include Output envelopes, Output formats, and Delivery types.
The Delivery options screen is used to maintain valid lists of Output envelopes, Output formats, and Delivery types. This screen is accessed from the menu option:
Syndication → Redistribution contracts → Delivery options
This opens the Oracle Form named rcs_sdty_010_pc.fmb as shown below:
The Output formats tab is shown here:
And the Delivery types tab is shown here:
This screen is only accessible to RCS administrators.
.Delivery methods
Each News service redistribution contract is processed according to a delivery method. This data is used by Fingerpost when sending the content to the client.
A list of the available delivery methods and the data items associated with each is maintained in the Delivery methods screen. This screen is accessed from the menu option:
Syndication → Redistribution contracts → Delivery methods
This opens the Oracle Form named rcs_sdme_010_pc.fmb as shown below:
The “Full list of data items” tab is shown here:
This screen is only accessible to RCS administrators.
.Aggregate sales term sheets
The (template) term sheet definition from which all the redistribution contract term sheets are generated is defined in the Aggregate sales term sheets screen. This screen is accessed from the menu option:
Syndication → Redistribution contracts → Aggregate sales term sheets
This opens the Oracle Form named rcs_cont_010_pc.fmb in a mode that only shows aggregate sales term sheets as shown below:
The “Clause text” field is used to perform data merges. This happens within the Oracle Report that generates the term sheet output that gets sent to the client, where paperwork needs to be generated.
This screen is only accessible to RCS administrators.
.Spot sales term sheets
The (template) term sheet definitions from which all the spot sales term sheets and quotations are generated are defined in the Spot sales term sheets screen. NB This include the Theatrical & Motion Picture (Television and Feature Film) variants of each. This screen is accessed from the menu option:
Syndication → Redistribution contracts → Spot sales term sheets
This opens the Oracle Form named rcs_cont_010_pc.fmb in a mode that only shows spot sales term sheets as shown below:
This screen is only accessible to RCS administrators.
.Client contact types
A list of valid client contact types that may be used when linking contacts to a redistribution contract is maintained in the Syndication client contacts screen. This screen is accessed from the menu option:
Syndication → Redistribution contracts → Client contact types
This opens the Oracle Form named rcs_scty_010_pc.fmb as shown below:
This screen is only accessible to RCS administrators.
.Client media types
A list of valid client media types that can be used on redistribution contracts is maintained in the Syndication client media types screen. This screen is accessed from the menu option:
Syndication → Redistribution contracts → Client media types
This opens the Oracle Form named rcs_scmt_010_pc.fmb as shown below:
This screen is only accessible to RCS administrators.
.Content email alert types
A list of email alert types, split into those types that are used for corrections and clarifications and those that are used for legal notices, is maintained in the Content email alert types screen. This screen is accessed from the menu option:
Syndication → Redistribution contracts → Email alert types
This opens the Oracle Form named rcs_ntyp_010_pc.fmb as shown below:
This screen is only accessible to RCS administrators.
