21 Lip Sync 2

    • You have completed your jabber and it looks pretty good but you notice that there are a few places that just don't feel right. You need a few specific mouth shapes to make it work perfectly. This does not mean you need to change every single sound, just the ones that stand out.

    • First, google lip sync mouth shapes and find a guide that is in the same direction and gender as your character.

    • Next create a new symbol and name it your characters name mouth shapes ex. Duncan's mouth shapes

    • Bring in the old mouth so that you have a reference as to size

    • Make a new layer

    • Click the outline view of the old layer

    • Return to the second layer and draw the desired mouth shape

    • Then go back and delete the original layer that you used as a size guide

    • Go back to your scene

    • Find the area on the timeline that you want the new mouth shape and insert a new keyfram where you want that shape to start and then add another where you want it to end

    • Make sure you know what size the old mouth was so you can set the new mouth to the same size.

    • Delete the old mouth and put in the new mouth

    • Reset the size and set it to play a single frame and select the frame of the mouth shape you desire.

    • When making a new mouth shape use the same graphic and just add a blank keyframe, because this graphic will never loop you only need one frame per image.

    • Test your animation by pressing command return.

    • When you have a lip sync that works, (three distinct mouth shapes for the assignment) Make sure you save your work and test the movie one last time then use Swivel to make a m4v and upload to youtube.
