The SLAM Sophomore year is a trial year. This is your year to check us out and our year to check you out.
At the end of the year you will be able to decide if you want to stay and we will also decide if you will move on to the Junior year as a SLAM student.
The reason for this is that in 2016-2017 we have 90 Sophomores and we will only have room for 60 Juniors in SLAM next year.
There are many factors that go into this decision. Here are some of them.
For you:
Are you motivated to do SLAM related work, like improve your photography, design graphics, create animations, and create videos?
Are you more motivated to take as many AP classes as you can than you are taking SLAM classes?
Do you participate in SLAM events and get to know the other SLAM students or do you just not care?
Do you work well in your SLAM groups? From now on, SLAM is very much a lot of group work and working with others.
Do you listen during class or just try to distract others, look at your phone, or make jokes during a lecture?
For us:
Do you show motivation to do SLAM related things, participate in SLAM activities, and learn how to create?
Are you signed up for SLAM Video Production, SLAM English, and SLAM Social Studies in Junior year? You can take other classes, but you need to enroll in our classes to continue. This means AP-everything students need to make a decision.
Do you work well in groups? The SLAM Junior year is group work heavy, especially Video Production. You should be a productive and reliable member of any groups you are a part of.
How are your grades in your SLAM classes? Grades aren't everything, but you should be doing well in your SLAM classes. Especially Multimedia!
Do you participate in the photo assignments, critique, and other activities or are you trying to sneak a peak at your phone, chatting with your neighbor, etc.
