Creating a symbol.
Symbols are important in Animation. A symbol is an entire thing that can be animated all together, such as a character with arms, legs, a nose, and hair. You wouldn't want to have to move all those parts individually when they should all move together. So you draw your character and then make it into a symbol before you animate it.
To make your ball into a symbol, click frame 1 to select everything in it. Then go to Modify > Convert to Symbol.
Next, name your symbol "ball" or whatever you want to name it. Also, the type should be Graphic and the Registration should be in the center. This makes the center of your ball, the center of the ball.
To Animate: Insert Frame, Create Motion Tween, Move to a different time, Move symbol.
1. Right click in frame 60 and select Insert Frame.
2. Click anywhere in the timeline and select Create Motion Tween.
3. Now move to a different frame on the timeline and then move the ball. Make your ball bounce around the frame a few times.
4. To animate something else, add a layer by clicking the Add Layer button at the bottom left of the timeline.
5. If you have time, watch this video on drawing in Animate. Watch the video, then create a new layer and draw a boat like in the video.
You can only animate something separately if it is on it's own layer. Things on the same layer animate together.
File > Save As. Create a new folder in your Documents folder named Animation and save this file to that folder named tonyf_animation_001.fla
