Our District and local businesses are offering some outstanding opportunities to SLAM and SLHS students this Summer. Some are paid positions but all are excellent opportunities to get some real-world experience and possibly a path to a future with one of these companies.

• 13 San Leandro Organizations

• 24-28 Total Positions

• 6-8 Paid Positions/hourly or stipend - (1) Pacific Farms - (2) Thrifty Medical Supply (2-4)

OSiSoft IT Engineer (2) SLED Intern

• 6 week program for students (some students will stay on paid positions and into Fall)

• June 22nd , 2015 Start Date for Internship Class

• Students earn 5 Elective Credits

• Cyclic program July 2015

Program 1: Career Exploration (8 Positions)

A cyclic internship program exposing every student participant to 12+ career roles in 4 high-growth

industries of Health & Medicine, Information Communications Technology, Public Service & Law,

and Advanced Manufacturing & Engineering. Employers include Kaiser Permanente, OSIsoft, City of

San Leandro and Advanced Manufacturing Employer TBD. Students will rotate each week to a

different employer. *Note: Advanced Manufacturing & Engineering Industry currently under

development.

Program 2: High Impact Internship (20 Positions)

This is a standard one-to-one internship experience allowing for more in-depth skill building, talent

development and industry-specific exploration.

Selection

• It is preferred that employers are able to interview at least 2 candidates for any one position.

• Sign-ups are targeted to particular classrooms or academies based on skills demand for

each position.

• Overlap with Eden ROP students, and/or other supportive institutions or organizations such

as after school programs, non-profit organizations, student clubs, and Youth Employment

Program.
