Propaganda Poster (Due Wednesday)

Post date: Feb 03, 2016 3:30:52 PM

The Principals have asked SLAM to create graphics for the tv screens with our school values. So this is a perfect assignment to put your typography and photoshop skills to work.

Pick one of the slogans:

We are life long learners.

We are leaders in training.

Don't be part of the problem. Be part of the solution.

Failure is not an option.

Respect is a sign of strength.

Discipline yourself so no one else has to.

Stay calm at all times.

If you have a goal, nothing is impossible.

We come from greatness.

You may also choose to create a poster about School Halloween Rules:

NO masks or FULL face paint which would hinder identification.

No violence, alcohol, or drugs on campus, including fake weapons or injuries.

No Offensive or stereotypical depictions of cultures, genders, heritage, or religion.

Costumes may not hinder participation in class

Costumes can not disrupt or impede hallway traffic

Costumes cannot cause safety problems

You can also create a poster about any of the SAIL virtues

Use Photoshop to create a 1920 x 1080 poster with the slogan of your choice. Each poster must contain the text and either a drawing that you draw or a picture that you take. Do not use anything that you do not create.

Some techniques you might like to use:

Layer Effects

At the bottom of the layers panel you will see the fx button.

Press this and you will see the many layer effects you can apply to a layer. If your layer is a text layer these effects will apply to the text.

Some good ones are drop shadow, bevel and emboss, and gradient overlay. Don't get to crazy with effects though, keep it classy.

Warp Text

Type > Warp Text to warp the text in different ways

3D text

Select some text and go to Type > Extrude to 3D to create 3d text.

Deselect the layer or Turn off View > Extras to get rid of all the 3D viewing and manipulating aids.

To turn it in:

File > Save As and save it as a .jpg full size with "HD" at the end of the name.

Post to G+ with #slamvalues and to your website on the photoshop page.

Here are last year's posters. #slamvalues Yours will be very different because they did not draw anything or include an image.

Here's some text only examples:
