1. Go to the server in the -Mr. Farley's assignments folder and find the Obiwan folder. Drag the Obiwan folder to your desktop.

2. Open AE and drag the three files in the folder to your project window.

3. Drag Obiwan and the interior to the timeline with interior on the bottom and Obiwan on top.

4.Click on the Obiwan layer, and draw a Garbage Matte around Obiwan that is big enough to keep him in it through all the frames using the pen tool.

Next:

1. Effect > Keying > Keylight

2. Set the screen color with the eyedropper.

3. View = Screen Matte

Open the Screen Matte twirler and adjust Clip Black and Clip White so that Obiwan is white and the background is black. Leave the shadow so it is gray.

4. View = Final Result and it should look good.

Next Step Light Sabers!

1. Layer > New > Solid

2. Effect > Generate > Beam

3. Set Length =100, set inside color to white and outside color to your choice (Obiwan had a blue saber).

Animating the saber:

4. Press stopwatch for Starting and Ending Points.

5. Click button for Starting point and put it at the hilt of Obiwan’s saber handle. Click the Ending Point button and put it where the saber ends.

6. Move the timer to the end of a motion and re-position the starting and ending points.

7. Animate saber for entire clip.

Grievous' sabers:

Drag Greivous to the timeline.

1. It's hard to see Grievous' saber handles. So create a white layer behind him to make it easier:

Layer > New > Solid and make it white. Put the solid color layer under the Grievous layers so you can see what’s going on better.

2. Layer > New > Solid

3. Effect > Generate > Beam

4. Set Length =100, set inside color to white and outside color to your choice.

5. Animate the saber and repeat for the other saber.

Use Edit > Spit Layer to cut the layers and move the saber to the front or back of the characters.

To blend your colors, Layer > New > Adjustment layer, then apply Effect > Color Correction > Photo Filter to give the whole thing a color cast that blends the layers together better.

Render the movie and put it on your website and G+ #slamobiwan
